By road from Kozhikode
The most common route climbs from Kozhikode through Kunnamangalam → Mukkam → Koodaranji → Kakkadampoyil. The last stretch is a scenic hill road with hairpin bends, so allow extra time and avoid driving fast, especially in fog or rain.
By bus

Kozhikode (Calicut) railway station, about 49 km away, has the best connections; take a taxi or bus onward. Nilambur Road station is closer, about 24 km away, but has fewer services.

Best time to visit Kakkadampoyil
- November–February: cool and pleasant, with misty mornings — temperatures can dip to around 15°C. The most popular season.
- June–September (monsoon): lush, green and dramatic, with waterfalls at their fullest. Roads are slippery, so drive with care.
- March–May: warmer days, up to around 30°C — still cooler than the plains, and quieter.
